If I could actually move my poor body today, I would *kick myself in the backside* for forgetting my CAMERA!! It truly was one of those parties where "You had to be there"! LOL
My sister and her partner got married December 6th, after nearly 21 years together! Their actual *First Date Anniversary* was New Years Eve. So that's when they chose to have their Reception, Wedding Cake and all!
Last year, her daughters made little top hats to wear, for each of us. THIS YEAR they made Mardi Gras/Mummers Masks! Too funny! Good thing we all knew each other, or we would have really been in a quandary! They also provided feather boas for the women and beads for the men, and their *Wet Bar* really was! It was all set up in the piles of snow we all have! Imagine about a dozen different types of alcoholic beverages, plus MUCH Champagne, all standing up in snow! LOL Quite a display.
Being me, and not much of a drinker, I had three mimosas, (Champagne, Orange juice and Pineapple juice, mixed) in the six hours I was there. Yes, SIX HOURS! Not only that............but they decided it was going to be a "Dance Party", too! That's where the OMG comes in!
They had that game thing, (I don't know what it's called, but you hook it up to your TV). It has all these songs, and it interacts with whoever is in front of the tv. It shows dance moves by animated/computer people, and the person in front of the tv is supposed to try to copy the dance moves. You get points for when you do it right. There is a part of it, too, called "Freestyle", where you do what ever moves you want and you get points (or not) depending on what you do!
It is TOOOOO Hilarious! First off, my sister and I both have kids that are in their 20s and 30s, (in my case, I even have one who is 40), so they know a lot more dances than we do, and they all took turns out in front of the tv to dance. My sister is 50, but she was right up there on her turn and so was her hubby! NOT ME! My excuse was "I have a cane! I can't just put it down and dance, you know"! But I know they were plotting some way to make me do it!
I'm not really sure how many were there, I could guess at 35-40 because some came and left and different ones showed up. Just our families was about 20, because the kids had their spouses/partners too, and that adds up as family! Plus the sets of friends from my sister's friends and the kids' friends! (at least everybody was over 21)!
They also made sure everyone had party poppers and noisemakers! Talk about total noise and insanity at midnight, and laughing! Geez, I don't know when I've laughed more! My sides ached just from that, and my poor ears!
After all the Midnight craziness, it was time to cut the cake and open their gifts (but no coffee, unfortunately).
BUT WAIT!......................Just when I thought the party was close to over, they announced that it was time for the "Wedding Dance".
Well, silly me, being a romantic at heart, I expected a nice, loving, slow dance! Hahhahahahaha! They decided EVERYBODY had to dance for the wedding dance, cane or not, that's when I realized they had plotted against me! LOL
Their wedding dance was "Gangnam Style"........OMG! So I was *Forced* to dance! Guess what, I guess one CAN dance, even with a cane! At least I did my best! LOL But my body screamed at me for the next two days. I am *almost* normal today, after sleeping from 2:00 am to 11:00 am on NYE, and a nap at 3 til 5, and another nap at 8 til 10 pm on NYD. Then another 8 hours last night!
My niece was taking pictures, which she is supposed to email to me. If I can figure out how to get them from the email to this article, I will. Otherwise you'll just have to use your imagination! But make sure it's the wildest imagination you can come up with LOLOL!
I wrote, in Kavika's article to remind to NEVER, EVER go to another "Dance Party/New Year's EVE", but then again, I don't think we'll have any other New Year's eve wedding receptions, either! LOL
Happiest of New Years to all of you. May it be the best you've had yet, Healthy, Happy, Prosperous, and with All your needs met!
Bless! ♥ ♥ ♥
If you have Facebook, look up Charlayna Marie Photography, New Year's Eve (I imagine), and you should be able to see some of the party photos! :-)
