Berry followed Frank around like a puppy, even when Frank would roll him over!

Berry and Frank were good buds!

Berry wasn't a small fish, but Frank is just a Giant!

Berry and Frankenfish,the buds
Sad news today for my Grandson.
His very first fish, whom he called Berry was sunk to the bottom of his aquarium when I went to feed them this afternoon!
Frankenfish was storming around in the tank and creating tidal waves. I thought he just wanted to be fed, but alas, not so.
He must have been upset about his buddy! They have been together for five years and was the only fish Frankenfish didn't try to eat! It has been several hours now, and he is still roiling the water around, I wonder if they DO form attachments?
Poor guy, he was also the oldest one, even though I have read they may live up to 20 years, Berry was only 6.
Now, I am wondering if I should just let Frank be alone, or try to introduce another fish?
I will never find one as big as he is. Berry was a good size, but not even half Frank's size and girth!
There is a Pet Store in Spokane that would love to have a goldfish the size of Frankenfish, they have many huge fish of different species, but no Giant Goldfish like Frank. They would buy him for sures.
Trying to find another large fish, for sale, would be another problem. They are expensive and what if I spent the money and Frankenfish didn't want the new guy? I wonder if he would fight or try to kill and eat a new one?
I tried to buy a replacement fish for my Grandson when his fish "Spike" died last Spring. The jerk in the pet store in our town, didn't feel the least bit sorry for a crying nine year old. When Krystian found a fish "sort of like" Spike, the guy charged me TEN BUCKS, for a 4-5 inch goldfish! Grrrr! I will NEVER shop at his store again!
Krystian's new fish became "Spike Jr." and he lives with Cherry, another of The originals.
I allowed Krystian to bury BOTH his deceased fish buddies in my big Houseplant pot! It's over 25" tall and about 36"- 40" in circumference, so there is room enough.
Do fish do okay when they are the only one in a tank? Do any of you know?? I've always had 2 or more together in any aquarium. Do they need company, I wonder?
Anyways, guess I am stuck about what to do, right at this time. Poor Berry and poor Frankenfish.
Will he be lonely?
